About Our Ultrasound / Sonography Program

The Ultrasound/Sonography technician program requires students to complete 900 clinical hours before graduation. Students will be placed at a clinical site by the AMG Medical Institute. This externship is designed to provide hands-on, one-on-one training in a clinical setting; prospective students will be shadowing a licensed professional who will assist them in all exercises. Eighty clinical hours will be completed during The Ultrasound/Sonography technician course, and the remaining 820 hours will be completed during the clinical externship. Students are permitted to begin the apprenticeship once all required classroom and lab hours are completed.

AMG Medical Institute has clinical affiliations with several healthcare facilities throughout Northern New Jersey and the surrounding areas. Therefore, students will be placed for their externship rotation at an affiliated site and must complete the required clinical hours based on their selected program's clinical hour requirement.
